SMPP

SMPP Interface

The SMPP interface applies a standard protocol, primarily used for connecting to short message service centres (SMSC) for cellphones.

The following conditions must be fulfilled:

  • You must have an eCall account
  • The SMPP interface must be activated in your account
  • SMPP Protocol v3.4 specifications apply

    TCP/IP

    TCP/IP Interface

    The TCP/IP interface is used to send messages from any software directly via the Internet using Telnet (socket).

    The following conditions must be fulfilled:

    1. You must have an eCall account
    2. The TCP/IP interface must be activated in your account
    3. Your software must have TCP/IP messaging capability


      Variant 1

      • Suitable for technical systems and developers familiar with Telnet or socket programming. More details are available here.
      • Please note: The Win2000 Telnet be buggy (faulty line breaks). Please use the Telnet program.

      Example: Delphi
      EasySMS is a small text messaging program written by Michael Szepanski using Borlands Delphi 7 (including source code). The code is free to use. The software was created for a college project.


      Variant 2

      • Install our OCX Control in your program. This enables messaging via your software (SMS, pager, fax, voice messages). Download the instructions and OCX below.

      HTTP/HTTPS

      HTTP/HTTPS Schnittstelle

      The HTTP interface enables direct opening of a URL for messaging to various telephony systems. The HTTPS interface can be used if data encryption is required.


      The following conditions must be fulfilled:

      1. You must have an eCall account
      2. The URL interface in your account must be activated
      3. Your software must be capable of opening a URL for messaging

      The WebService interface can be used to send messages to various call systems using standardized Web-based methods.

      The following conditions must be fulfilled:

      1. You must have an eCall account
      2. The URL interface in your account must be activated

      UCP

      Universal Computer Protocol Short Message Service Centre (SMSC)

      The Universal Computer Protocol (UCP) can be used to exchange text messages between different network elements and a Short Message Service Center (SMSC).

      E-Mail

      E-Mail interface

      You can send a request by e-mail to a mobile phone (SMS / Push), to a pager, to a fax (including a document), or to a telephone (voice message). You can use any mail program (MS Outlook, Gmail, Thunderbird, Lotus Notes, etc.).

      1. Setup:

      Activate in the menu 'Account settings'-> 'Email access' the option 'allow messages via email'.

      Allowed sender addresses: Here you can define which email sender addresses are allowed to send a message via eCall to e.g. a mobile phone.

      2. SMS settings:

      Here is where you define whether the recipient receives the specified number 'Reply to number:' or a number from eCall (SMS reply via eCall) as the sender number. In the second variant the receiver has three days to respond to this number, so that the reply can be delivered to the sender.

      4. Fax settings:

      Here you have the possibility to define options, such as the sender or the number of delivery retries. You have the same possibilities as in the web interface settings.

      Important:

      • In order to send messages via e-mail you have to enable the checkbox 'I accept that messages can be sent by email to the debit of my eCall account' under the menu item 'Account settings: Email access' (see: 1. Setup).
      • Please note that the length of the transmitted message depends on the recipient and your account type (mobile: max. 160 - 1600 characters / pager: max. 80 characters).
      • You may define up to 10 sender addresses for eCall prepaid, 5000 sender addresses and/or optionally, for example, *@xy.ch (wild chars) for eCall business .
      • After the opening of your account only format 4 is available. If you have an eCall prepaid or eCall business account you can activate all the other formats in the account settings.
      • As sender address your e-mail has to contain an address, which you entered in the list of allowed sender address in the account settings (see: Allowed sender addresses).
